Hoole Allotments & Gardens Association
Welcome to our website! A meeting place for plotters, gardeners and like-minded folks associated with Hoole Allotments in Chester Are you wearing yours? HAGA polo/sweat shirts are available from the shop. September STOP PRESS - SKIPS CANCELLED. Unfortunately the skips planned for 13/14 September will not now be available. We were informed there was no money put aside in the (council) budget for them. Apple Day - weekend of 23/24 October. More details to follow soon. New Toilet - The construction of our new state of the art composting loo is over and the toilet rolls are stockpiled. Please be patient as finer details are finalised, ie. security arrangements and instructions for use! Please, please always shut and lock the gate, even if you think someone is about to leave/arrive after you. Now is the time for cropping - hope your harvests are healthy. Feel free to send in pictures of your produce! Plot news - July 2010

1. Accolade for Allotments Dee 106.3 held its Local Hero Awards Gala Ceremony on Thursday 15 July and the Colony was awarded its 'Eco Award'. Linda and Honore attended at the Ramada and received the trophy on our behalf. Thanks to Chris Caroe for nominating us! The award was presented for making major inroads into improving the environment ecologically.
2. Apple Day Please can you take 2 minutes to take part in our poll - see link below.
3. Open Day 2010 As you may have seen from the notice at the colony, our visitors on Open Day helped Claire House to raise over £400! The Plant Stall raised just over £250 (all proceeds go in the HAGA coffers and we will elicit your thoughts on what to spend it on later!) We greeted enough visitors to take an impressive £735 on the gate which has been sent to NGS to be distributed to their chosen charities. 3. Composting Toilet It's becoming a reality and work is shortly to begin! The location has been finalised and plotters with concerns have been consulted and informed. Some information about the model of toilet and how it will work will be posted soon.
We're planning to hold an 'Apple Day' on the weekend of the 23rd/24th October and would like to see how much interest there is from fellow plotholders. There will be apple pressing, making juice and other apple related activities. We will also judge the pumpkins and sunflowers on the same day.
